Star Cookies

These Star Cookies bring together the warm flavors of turmeric and cinnamon, creating a unique and visually appealing treat. You will love these homemade starry delights! 🌟🍪

Ingredients
  

  • 1 pack of Stardust - Turmeric Spice Pack
  • 2 sticks unsalted butter
  • 2/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 1/4 tsp kosher salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 2 tsp (additional) ground turmeric powder
  • 1/2 cup sugar (for sugar crust)
  • Star Shaped Cookie Cutter (optional)

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the Oven: Preheat the oven to 375°F(190°C) 
  • Prepare Vanilla Bean Pod: Prepare the vanilla bean pod located inside the Stardust – Turmeric Spice Pack by cutting the vanilla bean pod straight down the middle of one side and scraping out the contents.   • Mix Butter, Sugar, and Salt: In a mixing bowl, combine the butter, granulated sugar, and kosher salt.
  • AddEggs and Vanilla Bean: Add the eggs and the scraped vanillabean contents to the butter-sugar mixture. Mix thoroughly.
  • AddTurmeric and Baking Powder: Incorporate the 2 [additional]teaspoons of turmeric and baking powder into the mixture. Mix well.
  • Prepare Sugar Crust: In a separate bowl, mix the remaining 1/2 cup of sugar and the turmeric packet from Stardust – Turmeric Spice Pack to create the sugar crust.
  • Prepare StarDust: Grind up star anise and 1 cinnamon stick to a fine powder with either a pestle & mortar, spice grinder, blender, or food processor.  
  • The Dough: Roll the cookie dough out on a silicone pad or non-stick surface with flour-dusted rolling pin and use the star-shaped cookie cutter to cut into stars, reuse scraps to make new cookies. You can skip this step and just roll into approximately 1-inch balls. Place each cookie in the sugar crust mixture and coat well.
  • Baking: Spread the sugar-coated dough out on a non-stick baking sheet. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
  • Dust: Once out of the oven, immediately dust the cookies with the star anise and cinnamon mixture.
  • Cool and Enjoy: Allow the cookies to cool on a wire rack. Garnish with remaining cinnamon stick. This recipe yields 18 to 24delightful Star Cookies.
